Cultural Awareness Programs

Food Programs in MexicoFood Programs
We provide food assistance to the people of the Copper Canyon region - primarily to Tarahumara families but also to other area residents.  Our programs are ongoing --- we respond when need is brought to our attention.  Food is always available for the elderly. Additionally, we have annual food drives, especially during the Christmas season.  It is not uncommon for us to bring truck and railroad box-car loads of food to communities in need.

Cultural Awareness ProgramsMedical Assistance
Over the years, we have helped meet the need for medical care by bringing to the Copper Canyon area many doctors and nurses committed to giving  their time and knowledge to its indigenous peoples.  We solicit and distribute donations of medicines, immunizations and medical instruments.  Working with Mexican state and federal health organizations, we take those in need of surgery or special care to hospitals in the cities.  We participate in the building and furnishing of clinics and hospitals, as well as building landing strips for the Flying Doctors.

Cultural Awareness ProgramsLegal Aid
For over 35 years we have been deeply involved with providing free legal aid to the needy in Mexico.  We are proud of having a very talented legal team that can handle almost any type of legal challenge that might arise.  Indigenous peoples may receive legal aid at any time, at no cost.  Our legal department also handles all types of legal needs –corporate, immigration, civil, contractual – for those from outside Mexico for a sliding fee.  This service helps support the other programs of the Milburn Foundation International Institute.

Cultural Awareness ProgramsBuilding Projects
Many Mexican groups, such as schools and churches, who desire to complete a building project but don’t have the knowledge or resources to fulfill their dreams, come to us.  We educate them on the realities of building construction, locate and deliver building materials to their site, and help in any way needed to make their projects run as smoothly as possible.  With us serving as facilitators, groups looking to fulfill a calling have completed homes, schools, clinics, churches, day-care centers, elder-care centers and orphanages in Mexico.

We invite individuals and groups to become involved in these Cultural Awareness Programs by volunteering to work on site in Mexico and by providing financial support for these efforts.  Please contact us for details.
