Your Hosts/Tour Guides

Jan, Mireya, and Joaquin Milburn...Your Hosts

The Milburn Foundation was founded by friends of Jan and Mireya who were impressed with the life long work of this couple. Mireya was born and raised in the Sierra Tarahumara and met Jan while he worked in her area with her people.

Jan went to Chihuahua in the late 1960’s and has ever since dedicated his time and efforts as a “cultural broker” for the people of the region. Together they formed a highly respected organization that covers every need of the locals in the Copper Canyon region. Their story has turned into a life long union which has brought joy and help to thousands of people who have crossed their paths.

Their lives are full of dedication and romance, and will be part of the enjoyment of participating in the Milburn Foundation tours. Their son Joaquin usually joins the group. Joaquin was also born in the Tarahumara in the traditional manner and feels at home dividing himself between 3 cultures. American, Mexican and Tarahumara.

Rounding out the group of leaders are family and friends who are local, born and raised in the Sierras and in the Canyons. They are our drivers, walking, hiking, biking, and shopping guides. They are generally there for whatever needs you may have.

We hope you come and join us on our Tours.
